An easy 5.3 mile loop into the Liebre
Mountains in the southern part of the Ranch
has less than 400 –foot elevation gain. In
the shadow of Liebre Mountain and near the
famed San Andreas fault, we will visit riparian
and freshwater marsh habitats surrounded by
Mojave Desert scrub and chaparral
communities studded with Valley Oaks. The
Mojave Desert shrub communities in this area
should be lit up with blooming rabbit brush.
We will also see the historic adobe once
occupied by General Edward Fitzgerald Beale,
the founder of Tejon Ranch.
